Description

Up for sale is a brand new 1/72 USAF UNITED STATES AIR FORCE FAIRCHILD REPUBLIC A-10 THUNDERBOLT II 80-0244 (HA1332) by Hobbymaster.

October 1975 saw delivery of the first USAF A-10A and deployment in March 1976. Built specifically for close ground support the pilot is protected by titanium armour while being covered by a bubble canopy giving a commanding view. The Warthog has everything needed to survive, dual engines; self-sealing fuel cells; redundant flight control systems protected by titanium armour; a 30 mm seven-barrel Gatling gun; a wide array of bombs and missiles. This plane packs a heavy punch and can stay on scene a long time to deliver its payload.

The 122nd FW of the Indiana ANG is called “Blacksnakes”, a name Native Americans gave to Anthony Wayne, the “Black Snake.” He had his American Revolutionary War troops lie on the ground and wait for the right moment to strike, like the North American Black Snake. Wayne Indiana is named after him. In July 2021 the 100th Anniversary of the Indiana ANG A-10A 80-0244 was painted black and grey with several special markings with the nose featuring a green-eyed snake with fangs.

This model aircraft is made from die-cast metal and include extensive detailing. It is similar in quality to Corgi, Gemini Jets, JC Wings, Witty Wings, Century Wings, NG Models and Aviation72.

Includes display stand.
