AEROCLASSICS 1/400 TAA TRANS AUSTRALIA AIRLINES DOUGLAS DC-3 VH-SBA “WEWAK” (ACVHSBA)

Up for sale is a brand new 1:400 scale TAA TRANS AUSTRALIA AIRLINES DOUGLAS DC-3 VH-SBA “WEWAK” (ACVHSBA) by Aeroclassics.

Probably better known under its original registration VH-AES “Hawdon”, DC-3/C-47 has a long Australian history, being operated during WW2 when it served originally with the US 5th Air Force. It was sold to the Australian govt in 1944 and lent to ANA as a freighter. When ownership passed to the newly formed TAA it flew (as a passenger aircraft) the inaugural Melbourne – Sydney flight of TAA. Over the years it had a varied career including service with the TAA Sunbird service. It wore the registration VH-SBA as depicted by this model which shows it as it was in the late 1970’s. After a period displayed at the new Tullamarine airport it was returned to the air by a group of dedicated volunteers who kept it flying until 2016 when it was passed to HARS who also continue to fly it.

This model air-plane is made from die-cast metal and include extensive detailing. It is similar in quality to Gemini Jets, Phoenix Models, JC Wings and Aviation400.
