Description

Up for sale is an as new 1/144 Cunard Eagle Bristol 175 Britannia G-ARKA “Good Fortune”(AA31504) by Corgi.

In 1960 low cost carrier Eagle Airways had a controlling interest taken by the Cunard shipping company resulting in a new name “Cunard Eagle”.  The relationship was short lived as pressure from BOAC resulted in a new merger, Cunard BOAC, forcing Eagle out of the picture. They rebounded as British Eagle and a significant part of  the success they now achieved was due to their Bristol Britannia’s. Sadly the airline could not survive due to pressure from BOAC and it ceased operations in 1968. At the time they had thirteen Britannia’s. This aircraft was the second last Britannia built and first flew in 1959 with the Bristol Aircraft temporary registration G-18-8. It was delivered to Canadian Pacific Air Lines later the same month as CF-CPD. It was only in service with Canadian Pacific for 16 months before being returned to Bristol Aircraft Ltd in early 1961 as G-ARKA. It was leased to Cunard Eagle Airways in March that year and remained with them until the airline shut down.

This model aircraft is made from die-cast metal and plastic. It includes extensive detailing. It is similar in quality to Western Models, Geminijets and Inflight200.

Includes display stand.
